We investigate neuroinflammation and cancer in context of the cellular microenvironment and extracellular matrix using advanced imaging technologies.

Leveraging (pre-)clinical medical imaging, including positron emission tomography (PET) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and meso- to microscale multimodal imaging techniques, such as Imaging Mass Cytometry (IMC) and Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization (MALDI) imaging, we characterize neuroinflammatory and malignant processes in context of the cellular microenvironment and extracellular matrix (ECM) scaffold. Based on a translational rationale, we focus on the development of novel imaging biomarkers and targeted contrast media that aid in the diagnosis, staging, and treatment response evaluation of cancer and neuroinflammatory diseases. With a background in clinical (neuro-)radiology, our goal to improve the diagnostic workup of patients in clinical pratice.
